Urner Barry Cancels
2012 Night at the Races:
For over 35 years the meat, poultry and
seafood industry has assembled at the Meadowlands Racetrack for an
Annual Night at the Races. The event was first hosted by The West
Washington Market Men's Club. When that group dissolved, Urner Barry
stepped in to organize the event. The Night at the Races hit its peak
attendance in 2008 when almost 1,000 people assembled at the
Meadowland's Pegasus Club for an evening of great food, drinks and
horse racing.
Due to change in ownership at the Meadowlands,
it was only a few short weeks ago that we were able to secure the
Pegasus Club for this year's event. We immediately began organizing
and adverting the 2012 Night at the Races. It has become evident that
the lead time was too short to amass the amount of people the industry
has come to expect at this event. It is with disappointment, that
Urner Barry is cancelling the 2012 Night at the Races and will be
issuing refunds for all the tickets purchased.
In a time when
business is increasingly reliant on phone calls, email, text messaging
other non personal means of contact, Urner Barry feels that networking
events, like the Night at the Races, are important to build new
relationships, explore business opportunities, and learn more about
other industry associates. In an effort to continue to give the
industry an opportunity to meet face-to-face, we will begin
considering a number of events that would accomplish this in the
future. We will be sure to contact you with our plans for future
events.
Urner Barry appreciates your support and welcomes your
feedback.
